Castle Rock Karting now has a new webiste up

(Dec 24th)The kart racers who raced at the Castle Rock Race Park now have a website they can check out at www.CastleRockKarting.com. The site is new this week said promoter Kevin Dykstra and will be growing in the upcoming weeks as their already is a great deal of info on the site now and plans to have it continue growing to gain more motorsports and karting interest in the Longview/Kelso/Castle Rock area and SW Washington.

Northwest Compact Truck Series Announces a Seven Race Schedule for the 2003 Season

The NWCTS and NW Pro4 Trucks have announced a seven race schedule for the 2003 season. This marks an increased cooperation between the 2 classes. In years past, the schedules have met a maximum of 3 times. The upcoming 2003 season boasts 7 combined "Challenge Series" races.

Dick Boness of the NW Pro4 series and Roy Warren of the NWCTS have been working since mid-2002 to solidify the schedule and work with several tracks to continue the success of the past challenge races. Seven races have been issued for the next year involving 3 tracks. Stateline Speedway (2), Ephrata Raceway Park (3) and Spanaway Speedway (2) will host the events. The Series points winner will be "crowned" at the last Challenge Series race at the Stateline Speedway, August 16th. SKAGIT SPEEDWAY MODIFIES WEIGHT RULE

Alger, WA- For the 2003 racing season a slight change in the weight rule has been implicated by speedway management. The 410 & 360 class will weigh with the drivers in the car. The new weight minimums are, 410 class 1375 lbs and the 360 class will be 1500 lbs. The Sportsman Sprints will remain the same as the previous year. All other weight rules remain in effect.


Pat Desbians used to race Sprint Cars in the summer but during the winter hits the indoor racing scene with the 500cc Cage Karts in Roseburg, Oregon at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Saturday Night he took his 4th straight win for the 500cc class. About 60 Cage Karts timed in Saturday Dec 14th at the indoor arena from the kids in the 5hp Briggs class to the audults in the 500cc open class

2003 RAYBESTOS BRAKES NORTHWEST SERIES SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 14, 2002) - NASCAR has announced the 2003 Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series schedule, a 14-race campaign that includes an August road course event in Kent, Wash. The race for the championship begins March 29 at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., the first of three visits to this track in 2003.

The May 10 event at Evergreen will be run on the tracks' infield 3/8-mile instead of the larger .646-mile oval that is normally used for Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series events. On August 24, drivers will compete on the two-mile road course at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Wash., the first time the series has visited a road course since 2001. 2003 NW Tour Schedule

 

Speedway loses appeal of land use decision

December 10, 2002 Eugene, Oregon -A Lane County hearings official has upheld the county's rejection of a request for the Cottage Grove Speedway to operate as a legally "grandfathered" use on property zoned for agriculture, grazing and timber.

Today's decision, another victory for opponents of the speedway, leaves the owners of the quarter-mile dirt racetrack with the choice of appealing to the county Board of Commissioners or pursuing a conditional use permit to allow racing to continue there. Read More
